Long-time Denver real estate brokers Chuck and Chad Ochsner have purchased local real estate powerhouse RE/MAX Equity Group. The father and son team are the owners of RE/MAX Alliance, which has 21 offices in Colorado. They are the new owners of RE/MAX Equity Group and its 12 Portland area offices.
“The Ochsners are accomplished brokers who know real estate very well. We’ve been friends for years and we’re very lucky to have them as our new owners,” said Alan Mehrwein, RE/MAX Equity Group President. “Because Denver and Portland are very much alike, both brokerages have found ways to succeed in similar real estate markets. We think there are a lot of positive synergies that will benefit all our agents.”
RE/MAX Alliance and RE/MAX Equity Group were ranked 27 and 57 respectively in the 2015 REAL Trends 500 survey of the largest U.S. real estate brokerages based on residential transaction sides. When combined, they account for a sales force of over 1,400 agents. RE/MAX Equity Group has nearly double the market share of its closest competitor in the Portland metro area.
Ochsner says the new ownership team will provide an entrepreneurial style that can be very nimble and respond quickly to the demands of a rapidly evolving real estate market. Mehrwein, who was vice president of brokerage management is now the new brokerage president, but no other management changes are expected.
“It’s going to be business as usual with no operational changes, however, both brokerages should benefit from economies of scale from our great vendors and the sharing of best practices,” added Ochsner.
Ochsner plans to visit Portland on a regular basis. However he and his father will still call Colorado home. They will continue to grow their RE/MAX Alliance offices, and are excited for what future synergies mean for their agents and their agents’ customers.
A newly created Oregon limited liability company, Equity Alliance, LLC, has purchased the Portland brokerage from the previous owner RE/MAX, LLC. The Denver-based corporate headquarters of the worldwide real estate franchisor has owned the Portland brokerage since December 2000.
